A little rebranding happening here.....
It has come to my attention that perhaps my title, "Portrait of an Unlikely Affair," although poetic, might be giving off the wrong "vibe" for readers, mostly due to the word "affair."
Ok. I get it.
These days the word "affair" is synonymous for "cheating on your significant other."
And no one likes cheaters.
And no matter how *I* meant it, it will always be up to the reader and their interpretations.
And I can say a thousand times, "It's not about affairs! It's taking the old time definition of it and..."
And that's the part I lose everyone.
Because of that word. And what it means in today's standards. Not the day and age I associate it with.
*sigh*
So, after much thought, I have decided to change the name of book one...Although not the name of the series. I have come up with the title, "The Leftover Son."
It's the same story. The same plot. The same everything as Portrait of an Unlikely Affair. It's just a different title, a different cover. That's it.
Why did you choose "The Leftover Son" for a title, Em?
Well, although Avonlea is a large part of the series, the story is really about Brian and his journey through life, first as the classified weapon who is put into a "break glass in case of an emergency" kind of reserve, handled with kid gloves, and being the son that is hidden away to his journey of becoming the man he grows into. Avonlea is a big part of his story, his transformation over the series, but book one, this book, is just the beginning.
And I'd rather not have people skip over it because they believe it's a book that involves extra-marital cheating. Because nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, you can consider this a 'closed door' romance, if you consider it a romance at all. Sure, it has romance in it. But so do the other action and adventure things you see, even on TV. I mean think about it -- Um, hold on, what TV shows are in the same realm as this book? Um...Let's see. I'm thinking. Ok, so SEAL Team, um, Tony & Ziva. Those book to TV series with Chris Pratt that my husband watched, Reacher, and I'm trying to think of the other shows I've caught an episode or two of that my husband was watching. (Confession: I don't watch much TV and don't have patience for movies. I like more of the documentary, history, treasure hunter, and docu-diary type travel shows, paranormal shows, OnPatrol Live, Death in Paradise, Monk and the David Suchet's portrayal of Poirot. In fact, I'll watch shows over and over again before I watch other shows. Other shows stress me out too much.) They aren't technically romance shows, but they show the emotions of the heart.
So, what can you expect from this particular book?
Nothing that you didn't already expect for the previous title -- because it's the same manuscript, just different title and cover. As for availability, the original title of "Portrait of an Unlikely Affair" will still be available until it ends it's enrollment on Kindle Unlimited.
There will also be a short gap before I get the audiobook for The Leftover Son up and running. And I will need to go back and update several different areas from my website to my covers to my manuscripts that list all of my books. It's just housekeeping. I didn't want ANY of you to get confused when you saw this "new" title popping up.
BUT the Kindle Version, the KU version, the paperback, and the hardcover will be ready for borrowing and purchase within 24 hours. In fact, I just looked and the Kindle/Kindle Unlimited version is available right now! So I'd better get to work getting it on Audible!!
Got questions? Concerns? Let me know!
Until next time, check out all of my books available at Amazon, available on Kindle, Kindle Unlimited, paperback, and Audible!!!!
(And they have NOTHING to do with extra-marital affairs. NOTHING. At all. Nope. Zip. Zilch. They are all closed door romance because what is life without love? That's about as "spicy" as they get.)
