It's Teaser Tuesday! What do I have in store for you???

It's Tuesday! I hope you had a wonderful Christmas weekend and have maintained your sanity. There is a lot going on out there, including places with below freezing temperatures. We actually had 70 degrees for our Christmas, which was better than the negative degrees that were seen in other places. But still, I tell you, getting back into the work mode is a bit much. I am just not with it yet. (It could also be that using my kids' chromebook to write this has me at a disadvantage with a learning curve here...It's not like a normal laptop, if you know what I mean, and that really throws me for a loop...)

Speaking of Sanity, people view the holidays and the holiday season very differently. Some people thrive on the busy-ness, on being surrounded by noise and action, and the constant 'on' of everything while the introverts among us do not and take a week to recover from having to be social.  I am not ashamed to admit that I belong to the second group and am still 'recovering' from all the merriment and cheer the season brings. Give me a warm place with silence and my writing, or a book, and I'm a-OK. The older I get, the more that seems perfect to me as silence is rare for me to have. I couldn't imagine the holidays kicking off with a huge Thanksgiving followed by holiday parties and social obligations every single weekend through New Years. That is just a recipe for Adrenal Fatigue.

But that's not what we're going to discuss today. With it being Teaser Tuesday, what do I have in store for you?  That is a great question because honestly, I have no clue today as I am multi-tasking with chores, figuring out dinner, pondering spring semester, my writing, and all of the great mysteries of life. Oh yeah, and then I need to start a grocery list and meal planning. In among all this, I am reminded that New Years is coming. 2023 is now staring at us, with all of it's promise and unknown.

Are you a New Year's Resolution kind of person? Do you see all of the possibilities ahead and decide what you want to create in that new year, and then do it? I hear that a large percentage of people make a resolution and then give up on it by the end of February. One year, when my oldest daughter was a few months old, I made a resolution to try adding a wider variety of meals to the menu. I do enjoy cooking but some times I'd find myself recycling the same ten meals over and over. We were maybe 3 days into the new year, and I decided to add a "vegetarian" day to the plan, starting with eggplant lasagna. Sounds simple, right? Followed the recipe to the T, made it, smelled great, got uncertain looks from my husband and instant "Uh-uh" from my then 3-year-old son. Well, within a few hours, my husband and I both got really bad food poisoning from it and my four-month-old also wound up sick from nursing. The "Eggplant Incident" is a day of infamy in our house and needless to say, I dropped that resolution very quickly and haven't had another one since. In fact, eggplant is a very bad word in our house.

So, back to resolutions, what New Years traditions do you follow? I know some people always make beans with ham. It is supposed to bring good luck. I used to go around and make sure all of my chores were done, all laundry done, all dishes done, all garbage out of the house, everything complete to start the new year. Then I'd sit down and watch After the Thin Man and then get to sleep good and early so I start the year rested and ready. Our neighbors have a different way, which includes loud music, drinking, and shooting off fireworks at midnight. Every single year.

So, today, I was thinking about The Allegheny Chronicles: Eden and the Alchemist. I was thinking of the basic idea of the Alchemist and his abilities. Then I was thinking about energy healing and the power of manifestation and creation. If our thoughts become our words and our words become our actions, then we don't need to make New Years resolutions. We can implement change just by changing whatever thoughts we are having on a daily, or hourly, basis. Just changing one thought to a more positive or empowering thought can rewire our minds to speak more positively and then allow it to show in our actions, which in turns changes our whole life. Sure, it's a daily process, an hourly process, but it can be done. It's really the art of living mostly in the present, taking your day as it happens because you can't foretell what your thoughts are going to be in ten minutes, let alone an hour or a day from now.

So what does this have to do with anything with Teaser Tuesday? I don't know. But since we are 'technically' still in 'holiday mode' and most blogs and such don't start new posts until after the New Year, I figure I'll take you back for that in-depth look at The Allegheny Chronicles: Eden and the Alchemist.

I'll see what I am moved to write for Friday's Morning Tidbit and if my brain has recovered from holiday overload by then (Who knew we authors were such sensitive folk?)

But until then, thanks for stopping by and spending time with me today! I appreciate it! If you have any questions or comments about any of my novels, please let me know.
