Fun Fact Friday -- Introducing Along the Way

NOTE: As I am trying to keep it the same across all platforms, I am reposting the original Fun Fact Friday post that I did on Facebook, on Friday Sept. 30, 2022. Here it is in its entirety.

Happy Friday!

On Fridays I will share a tidbit, answer a question about my novels, or even just basic trivia about my process just to give you an insight into my writer's mind (as I'm not one to talk about it if you meet me in person.)

Along the Way was originally published in 2014 on an independent self publishing website, available only in paperback form. I did not have time to promote the book, and rarely shared its existence, although I would randomly share it on social media on a whim.

When characters begin to step off the page, and readers grow to love, dislike, or want to strangle a character, the question I am asked most often is, "Have you known someone like (insert character name) before?"

The answer is no. My writing process and character creation is based on the question of "What if?" and then is created from there.

The characters of Along the Way were born from that very question of "What if?" back in my ballroom days. During breaks to rest my feet from dancing, I would observe my surroundings and wonder, "hmmm, what if?" Sometimes I will purposely create a character, or situation, that I think no one would ever believe is real, think their behavior is way too dramatic, or that the situation could never occur and write from there. Because it's fiction. I can do what I want with fiction.

Sometimes, Life will then show me that the character, their behavior, and the situation are all very believable and does actually happen more than I think. ("Nah, that never happens. What? C'mon... Really? No way!" as I'm staring, mouth wide open, in disbelief at the drama.)

Never underestimate fiction.

Have a great Friday, everyone, and enjoy your weekend!
